About this game

Most chess apps make you play a machine. Noctie gives you a training partner.

Noctie is a premium chess AI trainer that plays like a human, adapts to your level, and turns every game into focused practice. No perfect engine moves, no theory you'll forget — just real games against a realistic opponent, with instant feedback that shows you how to improve on every move.

TRAIN AGAINST HUMAN-LIKE AI OPPONENTS

Train against a chess AI that adapts to your level and makes natural, human mistakes instead of perfect computer moves. Improve through 25 difficulty levels of humanlike chess bots, from beginner to master.

LEARN CHESS OPENINGS THE RIGHT WAY

Choose your favorite chess openings — Queen's Gambit, London System, Caro-Kann Defense — or import your own repertoire, and train against an AI that follows the lines humans actually play. You don't just memorize theory; you learn to play it.

GET INSTANT VISUAL FEEDBACK WHILE YOU PLAY

See color-coded move-quality feedback the moment you play. Spot tactical mistakes and brilliant moves in real time, so every game teaches you something.

SOLVE PUZZLES FROM YOUR ACTUAL GAMES

After each game, practice custom chess tactics from the exact positions where you struggled. Your puzzles are saved for spaced-repetition practice, so you never repeat the same mistake twice.

SET UP ANY POSITION, STUDY LESSONS & ENDGAMES

Use the position builder to set up any chess position, or play scenarios from our instructive lessons — covering everything from positional imbalances to theoretical endgames. Drill king-and-pawn endgames until they're second nature.

BUILT FOR PLAYERS SERIOUS ABOUT IMPROVING

Noctie is a focused, premium chess training tool — no ads, no distractions, just deliberate practice that turns into real rating gains. Start with a free trial and train like you mean it.

game is pretty good. its unfortunate that you get 10 games with full access and then have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to have some chess features that should be included for free. Anyways , this game NEEDS some kind of audio timer warning for low clock time. Something like a 1 minute audio warning and then ticking sound once below a certain threshold. ticking at 20 seconds?. another request would be to have an option to turn on an evaluation bar. the option is important for learning.

It doesn't really seem to play like a human, unless human means Noctie randomly throwing away a bishop on move four of the opening on the hardest difficulty. It also doesn't really seem to give actual feedback. It just says "You played x" and "I responded with y", and the suggestion arrows are much the same as any app (maybe a bit worse).

Pre moves don't work half the time, doesn't really explain why moves are good or bad, and playing certain positions that are objectively good with book openings (I played 10 games of the Polish, which is an offbeat but still studied opening) caused the AI to call certain moves mistakes (or bad moves, good)
