• Meditative music and sound design for you to zen out to
• No filler - 48 carefully chosen levels
• No IAP, no monetization strategy, no currencies

Originally based on an experimental tree generation script, Joel McDonald carefully crafted Prune to perfection over the course of a year. Kyle Preston joined in to add his unique musical signature and sound effects.

A very interesting, clever puzzle game with what may be a unique approach. On the other hand, the tutorial level doesn't mention all the controls, so I stumbled onto two-finger gestures to zoom and moved on accident. Further, the nature of levels never really going the same way twice means I get stuck on a level, but then suddenly pass it without knowing what I did differently, or exactly what action led to what outcome. It's a very clever game, but needs to make itself clearer to the player.

I did enjoy this game. I like the game mechanics and the visuals. My problem is really the consistency through the levels on how to WIN levels. It's never clear exactly how much the tree needs to grow to win a level. I'm never sure how close it needs to get to the light. A few levels I played left me frustrated as I felt that I had pretty much won them, but it seemed that the game wanted the tree to grow in very specific ways for some levels, ways you could only accidentally stumble into.

Once in a while, a game comes along reminding us that storytelling doesn't need to be spoon fed to us. It doesn't even need words. Prune delivers beautiful, interesting art and design accompanied by gentle music, in a game that feels genuinely loved by its creators. I'm normally into action games and RPGs, and rarely finish one. But Prune is so absorbing and relaxing that I actually played it through! Fantastic, will watch for more great games from the creators.
