Don't bother. It's going to force you to input lots of personal information including your photograph, photo of your passport, your bank account information, a credit card number, etc. and then it's going to tell you something went wrong, or you will be automatically rejected. If you try again a few times, your account is going to be suspended. This pertains to adding a bank card and also trying to apply for tour card.

You can't go to China without this app, but it has bugs. When you launch mini programs they can behave erratically. Major annoyance is you cannot type a message to a Didi driver because it randomly adds characters to the message just as if there is no character denounce. Same thing in restaurant apps when trying to search. Because this behavior is identical in different mini apps, Alipay is doing something to data entry.

I just noticed today the Alipay app can give the user the full credit card number for any card they added to it. This is a huge red flag. No other wallet apps or shopping apps would display the full card numbers back to the users as per the proper security practices. I will stop using this app right away.
